SOFTWARE HISTORY Xena was created about 10 years ago to record, analyse and manage the important sales data at the Point of Sale POS). Back then, people would spend $3,000 on a cash register when a computer was cheaper and could be “taught” to do a lot more. Over time Xena has evolved from a cash register replacement, to a full accounting package, and through to an intelligent analytical reporting tool that really helps business profitability. Over time we have worked closely with customers to mould Xena to provide a range of ‘retail intelligence’ functionality that works extremely well for retailers in both New Zealander and Australia. The evolution moved from simple accounting package and POS for single shops, through to an enterprise style environment for multi-store retailers that focuses on getting the right information to the business manager at the right time anywhere they have access to the internet. The latest initiative has been to integrate with Xero and MYOB to a complete solution that both Accountant’s and Retailers work with collaboratively. The software was so good, John Arbuckle (owner of Payless Plastics) brought the company. John is one of New Zealand’s retail veterans that had successfully built the Arbuckles chain to being one of New Zealand’s leading retail outlets through the 1990’s through to about 2005 when it was sold. Since John brought the company in 2007, Xena’s functionality has evolved further and is now used to manage the Payless stores throughout New Zealand. Rather than holding onto this functionality, John is now sharing with other retailers through Xena –
Xena has now become a single or multi store ‘point of sale’ and back office system that blends the art and science of retailing. |
